While transferring shares from NSDL to CDSL broker if you have any locked shares (Eg: YESBANK) in NSDL DP then those can only be transferred once lockin period is over.
After the lockin period is over, customer need to submit an application to their NSDL broker to transfer the locked shares. This can be done even if your trading account with NSDL broker has been closed.
Note that shares are stored in demat account and that cannot be closed by your broker if it contains some shares (even if they are locked). Demat account can only be closed once all shares are transferred or sold.
