It's Indian CO. like Saudi Aramco type listings, everything good but demand/supply not favourable for sometime. Policy holders and empl. With some discounts will get 5-10% instant profits. FDI direct root investment will be 20% for FII(I think there has to amendment in current lows)so FII will be interested with long term views I have sold big IPOs via gray market and applied (sbicpl, paytm,Rpowr etc),this time too I will follow same strategy with some amount of shares hold for long term. Nothing wrong with the company, but too large to digest for the market
@ KDKING SIR & Amit bhai Here pe is not a valid conception. So 100 pe ,400 pe is far from the reality. Profit after tax shown here in this page may also not be correct as because LIC pays dividend to the Government(for its 5% share) every year amount of which is of the order of 2600 cr. Here in this case a conception has to be developed which is called ''Embedded Value.'' By the by, the life insurance companies don't maintain P&L a/c for conventional type of business. So nothing as profit may be found except in other business which is small in comparison to the conventional business. Here Revenue a/c is the main aspect which generates surplus 5% of which is given to the Govt every year. So , if 5% is 2600 cr, the total surplus amounts to 52000 cr.
But this mega IPO is huge & for its Success Pricing near to be cheap and reasonable for it to sail through. After paytm debacle, now Even MF will think twice before investing. Something Big needs to be left on table, else this LIC ipo fancy will lack.
Valuation shan't matter. Look at NMDC, a hefty dividend player. They never let it rise. It keeps gyrating between 85 - 170. It's the demand and supply that matters. Who would want to buy when everyone has shares? Add frequent OFS to that to complete the picture that has nothing but the false hope on the positive side.
Emotions have no place in stock market. I do follow it always. But I treat LIC beyond all these rules. Having a great connect with LIC for three generations, now I am getting a chance to be an owner of a tiny portion of this ocean. Not really bothered about an opportunity here, but i feel responsibility to buy atleast a small quantity and hold forever. So I will apply atleast 1 lot in retail category irrespective of the valuation. If not allotted, i will buy 5 shares at any cost on listing and keep it forever as an integral part of my portfolio. This is purely for my satisfaction. No business view in it. Apart from this, I will apply in HNI if i find it at good valuation. Please do your own research or consult your financial advisor.
Relax bro! There's absolutely no reason to become anxious here. Everyone, will get more than what they could wish for. Even the Pani puri, Vada Pav vendor, Mochi next to one's house will be allotted to the teeth.

Policyholders Quota is up to 10% of the total issue size, in DRHP it's mentioned. The aggregate of reservations for Eligible Policyholder(s) shall not exceed 10.00% of the Offer size.
I have taken one Policy on 12th Feb but they have not entered into system. they will update on 14th Feb. Will i be eligible for Policy holder quato or not.

@Devendra: I believe you will not be eligible for policy holder quota as DRHP filing date (13th Feb) will be considered as cut off date.
Don't worry there will be plenty of chances of allotment in Retail category as the issue size will be biggest in Indian stock market history. May be they will offer discount in retail quota like policy holder quota.

The policyholder is another retail quota with a discount. So instead of applying in the retail category small investors who want to apply in this IPO, should apply in the Policy holder quota to avail shares at a discounted rate.
So if you are already holding a LIC policy then make sure you update your PAN records to the LIC portal before this month end of Feb22,
Anyone who wants to buy a new policy can also plan to buy before this month-end and link PAN records as soon as the policy is issued.
if you compare LIC with international peers then LIC PAT is very poor. If the share price is more than 2000 then PE would be more than 400, which is tooooo costly.
If pricing done at 4 digit, then it will be disaster for lic....govt should compromise on pricing for it to perform and sail through..at 100 pe also investor will give miss, then 400 pe is like ..............

size of IPO is not we think like 75KCr + just wait for the size of IPO, heard gov has reduced the size, as they also want to make sure they will come with a respected size which market can digest. The price would be not in 4 digits which is for sure.
estimated Ipo size will be approx 25000 crs . Retail size will be 35% Approx 8500 crs for retail. Shares available for retail 11,06,87459 Price range may be 700 -800 per share. Approx pe would be 200
May be At 13 lakh crore market cap with 5 % stake sale... So 65000 crore IPO... Discount may be at 5% for retail investors and Policy holders... listing will be above 15 lakh crore market cap...This is my own calculations.... Any others please share there views...
Hi @lokes Is it good to apply for LIC IPO? I am also a policy holder of LIC. Could you give your insights on this IPO. Also i am holding shares of Kelton tech, i see its downside now. Can i hold this share for long term, like 2-3yrs? I read your suggestions most of the times and has helped in analyzing stock market to an extent. Thank you for that

@LV: Let the price band and size of ipo come, then it will be more better to evaluate LIC ipo. For now, i think government will try everything for the ipo subscription and listing to be successful, already a lot of marketing is being done for this to get enough retail/policy-holder subscriptions and even so many new demat accounts are being opened especially for this.
Regarding kelton tech, sorry i don't track that share and no idea about that. One general thing i can say that retail investors many times don't keep any stoploss and share prices keep going down and people keep holding/averaging and that will increase losses so i feel even if someone stuck in some share or if share price is not moving as expected, then always better to come out of that by booking some loss/profit whatever remaining, by keeping emotions aside.

@Vitamin (funny name:)
Coal India IPO price: 245 with discount of 5% offered to retailers so effective price is 234. It listed at 310 and gained further. One of my memorable early investments. Government company giving 40% listing gains that too biggest IPO at that time (15000 cr) is unbelievable.
It is currently languishing at 166 due to fossil fuel and little earnings growth but if we consider dividend it will be more than Rs.350.
LIC and CIL? That doesn't sound like a proper apple to apple / donkey to donkey comparison. Compare LIC with the likes of GIC or NIA (or the worse of the two). Huge IPO (Followed by relentless OFS) and liberal allotment to everyone. Expecting solid profits here would be hoping against all hope. Isn't it?
If price comes near 2000 plus, then it may go like gic and Paytm way....if price comes near 500 levels, then it may go like irctc like....if price near 700-800, then it may go like coal India type ...if price near 1000-1200 type, then it may go like gls, absl amc type listing...
