MOIL Buyback FAQs

The MOIL Buyback open and close dates are not available as of now.

The MOIL Buyback is a Tender Offer.

Sorry the MOIL Buyback timelines are not available at this time.

The MOIL Buyback is being offered at Rs ₹205 per share per equity share.

The MOIL Buyback record date is not yet declared.

The issue size of MOIL Buyback is of 3.38 Crores equity shares at ₹205 per share aggregating upto ₹693.77 Crores.

The necessity for MOIL Buyback is not yet declared.

All the eligible Shareholders of the Company holding either Physical Shares or Demat Shares as on the Record Date can participate in the buyback offer through their Stock Broker.

The eligible shareholder holding the shares in Demat form needs to inform their broker the details of the Equity shares they wish to tender in the Buyback Offer. The shareholder needs to transfer the tendered shares to a Special account of the clearing corporation. The broker, in turn, would place an order on the stock exchange for the buyback.

The eligible shareholder holding the shares in physical form needs to approach their broker with original share certificates and supporting documents. Upon completion of document verification, the broker places an order on the stock exchange and submits the original share certificate and TRS to the registrar.

The tender form and TRS are optional in the case of Demat shares but mandatory in the case of physical shares.

The MOIL Buyback offers an opportunity for the shareholders to exit their positions at a premium price. In case you stay invested you would have an increased percentage of shareholding in the company and improved earnings per share. Thus, one should understand the company fundamentals along with one's need, goals, and risk appetite to decide if one wants to stay invested or participate in the buyback offer.

Is it worthwhile buying a stock with buy back news anymore ? Depending upon the Size of the buyback, Track record of the company, difference between the CMP and the Buyback price, sustainability of the share price during n after the period of the buyback, holding capacity of the investors during the tough time arises if any , conditions during which the buyback is operated, YES it will be worthwhile.
I also agree that the prevailing conditions are not much attractive n favourable. But they will not be the same for ever. We have to be attentive, selective and watchful to grab the opportunity at an appropriate time.
Please don’t be disappointed. Look forward for the better opportunities. All the best. Thank you.

Dear Team members,
I have two dmat a/c of same name. In one dmat a/c I have 200 shares & 50 shares in second account at record date which is below of 2 Lacs limit. May I submit both accounts shares for buyback. Please advise.

25.1. lokes  Dec 2, 2021 1:00:07 AM I Like It. | Report Abuse
@sudhir: if both demat account belongs to same pan number then combined shares will be considered on record date for calculating retail category. So with 250 shares, ya you will be in retail category.
Yes you can submit shares from both demat for buyback via your broker.
Record date is still not announced for moil buyback.

It seems simply a avoidable buyback offer. Too risky for the buyback margin. IT may drift back to sub 200 after record date.

I am of the opinion that one can purchase some shares ( Half of the normal investment generally made in each buyback) if available @ Rs. 245/-. Of course the size of the buyback is a small one. We can take a reasonable risk. Thank you.

I humbly submit that I wholeheartedly admire Aniket ji for his kindness in sharing his valuable views on IPOs, secondary market, buybacks and what not, which ultimately helps in learning n earning. As the gem is somehow not in a position to express his kind views here in the buyback pages, I thought that the readers should not be deprived of any required help. So, whatever little knowledge I do have, I am trying to share. Had the precious gem is active here, I wouldn’t have to share my ill knowledgeable n inexperienced views which may result in losses to the readers. That’s what I am afraid of very often while responding to the queries of the readers.
I also join you to welcome the true IPO GURU Aniket ji here to the Buyback pages to deliver the best for the benefit of the readers.
Thank you.

If I will apply for 1 lakh amount then 30000 would be accepted for buyback with arround 6000 profit ( at 205 Buyback price from today ) and rest 70000 would remain hold at CMP price ? Am I right Kamma Sir .

What will be time period to get credited amount If I will buy today.
22.1. KAMMA SIVA RAMA KRISHNA  Nov 30, 2021 12:05:53 PM I Like It. 3 | Report Abuse
Suppose you have purchased 600 shares @ Rs. 169/- today. As the accepted ratio is always better than the Entitlement ratio, it is suggested to tender all the 600 shares for buyback. Whatever the no. of shares they accept, depending upon the holdings as on the record date, they will retain and the balance of shares will be credited back to your dmat account. Then it is upto you to decide whether to sell or to hold for some time. The resultant amount of the buyback of the shares will be credited to your bank account on the specified date. Coming to the point of profit, it mainly depends upon the Acceptance Ratio of the shares tendered for the buyback, Selling price of the unaccepted shares after the buyback etc., You will find the particulars regarding the period of buyback, last date for settlement of the buyback amount etc., in the offer letter sent to you after around 20 days from the record Date.
Please go through all the comments in the buyback pages to better understand the topic. Hope that the above helps you to understand to certain minimum extent. Thank you.

64 percent stake is already with the central government, So will the buyback be done from rest of the stake ?
21.1. KAMMA SIVA RAMA KRISHNA  Nov 30, 2021 6:23:03 AM I Like It. 1 | Report Abuse
Buyback will also be from the stake of the government as government will also participate in the buyback by tendering the shares to the company to best utilise the opportunity due to the advantage of the difference between the Buyback price and Market price. Thank you.

Board of directors of James Warren Tea Limited approved the buyback of 8,42,717 shares through Tender Offer @ Rs.295/-. CMP Rs.259/-. Promoters group is also interested in participating in the Buyback. Record Date is yet to be announced. Small size buyback. Not that much attractive.

@ KSRK sir,
Is it advisable to buy any number of shares for buyback,
I'm a very small retail investor, I can afford upto 100 shares.
i have 10 demat accounts of my family members & friends
Buying 10 shares from each account is more acceptable or buying all 100 shares from single account is more acceptable

Thanks in advance sir (ధన్యవాదాలు)

Reddy garu,
Only in exceptional cases even holding of the single share is accepted for the buyback. Normally, “buying all 100 shares from single account is more acceptable“ is believed to be more advantageous. All the best in all your efforts in this regard. Bhagavadanugrahamu meeku yellappudoo vundaalani korukontunnaanu.

@Experienced members,

I am new to buybacks, so may ask questions that are very obvious, please consider. Thanks.

Can/Should one buy shares of Moil for approx 1 lac, considering the current price of around 172, and buyback price of 205?

Generally what I observed is,
that share price touches (or comes in nearby range) to buyback price 1-2 days before buyback date, right?
15.4. lokes  Nov 22, 2021 5:39:39 PM I Like It. 1 | Report Abuse
this below thing, which you mentioned, happens in very few cases, else everyone can buy always after buyback announcement and can sell in buyback or open market for 20-30% gains :) there are many examples where it goes more down after record date like star cement and many others. Anyways for moil, yes you can buy around 170 rs upto 1000 quantities.

Yes, I understand that part. For a large sized Buyback like Moil with good AR, one can either take advantage of tendering or sell in secondary market.

Brought 1st lot (out of many), will observe and add more till 800-1000 quantity I think.

Param ji,
When the amount is Rs.1 lakh only, invest in one account. Buyback is different from IPO. Yes, sometimes like having one share in each account and that is accepted for Buyback then only it is advantageous to have shares in different accounts. Thank you.

@ksrk sir- How much qty you suggest for small investors? I can divide purchase between two demat. Moil has a target of 225-240 range from some brokerage. I only worry it does not go down like SAIL.

Why on this page (
This column (Issue Size - Amount (Cr))
Says 10 Cr for Moil
Instead of correct price
₹693.77 Crores

I think,
Same is wrong for every buyback.

Consider i buy shares of worth more than 2 lac before record date. For example shares worth 5 lacs, can i still apply in retail with lesser quantity of shares offering in buyback i.e. < 2 lac worth.

8.3. lokes  Nov 16, 2021 3:54:05 PM I Like It. 2 | Report Abuse
@Jigar: for retail category, as u know it has to be under 2 lakhs and that amount (no of shares eligible for retail) is calculated based on share price on record date so KSRK is just mentioning as per assumption of 200 rs price (200*1000 = 2 lakh). Buyback price is 205 rs so on record date suppose price is 201 rs then you will not come under retail category if you buy 1000 shares but if price is touching 201 on record date itself then we can sell in market also.
So taking all these assumptions/thinking, KSRK suggested for 1000 shares to buy max to be under retail category.
