I had a chance to visit this great monument some time back and was wonderstruck by its magnificience. However, there was a lot of sadness also, witnessing the poor maintenance and lack of respect by our own people towards this glorious heritage of ours- the inside of the Vijay Stambh is full of grafitti. Can't the ASI and the authorities do something about this criminal act of our own 'cultur-less' independent country men? Surely the job of ASI does not stop with collection of entrance fees to the tower.
