Grey market premium was yesterday morning 25 to 80 at the evening. It seems GMP sustain above 70 level then all retail will pour money, then retail allotment is going to be tough.
Hni also if premium sustain, then they borrow money and apply.

According to IT SEC.115QA -amendment dtd.20/9/19 , applicable for buyback of shares announced on or after 5/7/19 , capital gain is exempt in the hands of shareholders.
In simple terms gains made by share holders through tendering of shares in buyback are not taxable ( for buybacks announced after 4/7/19).

Will the company deduct the tax amount from the payment for the share buyback?Otherwise TCS might end up paying huge amount of tax.....Also for individuals, is there any consideration like 3 month holding etc.?

No ST/LTCG on buyback profits in the hands of the investors.
No TDS deduction.
Company has to pay tax for buybacks.

Buyback profit is taxable. Only it is free in case of unlisted shares where tax is paid by company.

this 2019 rule was formed when dividend distribution tax was taxed @ 20% to the companies . But in 2020 budget this rule was changed and now dividend is taxed in the hand of the receiver. hopefully Govt will change the rule in the next budget.

Initially, section 115QA was applicable only to unlisted companies. However, the Union Budget 2019 announced the said section to be applicable to the listed companies as well. The amendment is effective for all buybacks post July 5, 2019, vide Finance Act (No.2) 2019.

So now it is applicable to listed companies too

Difficult to believe. If someone bought share in March 2018 or March 2020 @ 100 and buyback price is 500 will the Govt let him go without paying any tax !

Government gets tax equal to dividend distribution tax. Much better to collect from one person rather than thousands

Arun ji in dividend every investor gets same dividend per share. In case of buy back one investor gets tax free profit of Rs 400 per share, another investor may get only 100 per share, depending upon price at which the investor bought shares. I have ignored such shares which are not bought back by the company.

What a change of fortune for Antony wast handling ipo. 9 months back there is no taker for the ipo. Now it seems allotment will be tough for retail with gmp is rising day by day.
