Exchange Transaction is calculated on the Transaction Value of Trade.

Let's suppose a trade was executed in the following manner:

The trader bought 1000 shares at INR 100 at 10:00 AM and then sold 500 shares at INR 110 at 11:00 AM. After 7 days, the trader sold the remaining 500 shares for INR 80. It is important to note that the trader sold 500 shares on the same day, while also taking delivery of the remaining 500 shares.

Computation of Fees: -

Please note that different charges will be applied for buy and sell time. For buy time, which involves 1000 shares, the taxable amount will be calculated as 1000 multiplied by 100 (the buy price), resulting in INR 100000.

The applicable charges will be 0.00345% of the taxable amount, which amounts to INR 3.45. For sell time, there are two different scenarios to consider:

  1. In the case of intraday selling, the taxable amount will be 500 multiplied by 110 (the selling price), resulting in INR 55000. The applicable charges will be 0.00345% of this taxable amount, which amounts to INR 1.8975.
  2. In the case of delivery selling with 500 shares, the taxable amount will be 500 multiplied by 80 (the selling price), resulting in INR 40000. The applicable charges will be 0.00345% of this taxable amount, which amounts to INR 1.38.

Finally, the total exchange transaction charge applicable here is calculated by adding up all applicable charges for each scenario, which amounts to INR 6.73.
