dear gopal,
Rs 70k for RTL, 175X40=7000 is 1 lot, u can apply 70k in 10 lots.. for RTL, 1 lakh application , max u can apply 14 lots of 40 shares per lot.

thnaks Raghu for the clarification.
Does it mean that, if i can fit in 14 lots for 1 lakh application based on lot size, and i am willing to apply full aplication .. will i be getting 14 different application numbers
for each lot set.
and is there any limitation that we can not go beyond this many lots with in 1lakk retail limit?

I did apply 1 lakh for VRL, as a chunk of 350 shares request,, did not get alloted single share ;-)

Dear alladi,

I am posting a previous reply for your question.

The more lots you apply the more your chances of getting allotment. If the issue size is small then oversubscription will be more. For example: If the max lot for an IPO is 16 lots (For 1 Lakh application) and it is oversubscribed 48 times then you chances are 16:48 for 1 Lakh application i.e 1 out of 3 people.

similarly if you apply for 8 lots i.e 50k your chances are 8:48 i.e 1:6 means 1 out of 6 people in that category.

What you can do is normally the retail people will apply on the last day and most of brokerage firms close online applications at 1:00 PM or 2:00 PM Maximum, though you can apply by paper till 5:00 PM or a couple of hours after that also.

On the closing day go to nseindia.com and click the IPO and look at the latest subscription figures in the NSE-BSE Demand graph and the see the total bids recieved at the cut-off price, divide this by the total number of shares in the retail category, this will give you the current oversubscription for retail category. Normally i see around 12:30 as mine is icicidirect and they close by 1 PM. Based on this you make your decision and apply for lots you think could fetch an allotment.

The ratio that i gave above was basis of allotment used for vishal retail. This document is released by registrar after the allotment is done. Since overall it is oversubscribed 58 times in retail and maximum lot that you could apply was 14 lots. so you chances are 14:58 or 7:29 or 21:87 or 24:100 or 24% chances in lottery. Similary for 50k application, it would be 7:58.

For 1 lot it woule be 1:58 etc.

Hope this helps you in making better decisions.

Raghu hi,
Could u pls explain on applying in lots for the same amount of shares request? and how does it gave more advantage during a;;ocation time if the scrip oversubscribes multiple times.i am not sure how it has to be done. could u please give some gyan on it..

Hi Sachin,

Applying on the last or first day doesn't make any difference. It is always good to apply on the last day after looking at the response received for the IPO to be on the safer side.

thanks Raghu,

I have just called Bigshare for allotment status, I haven't got any.
I just want to ask you one question
Whether it depend on when you apply for it? I have applied on last day so is that makes any difference while allotment?
96. raghu |   Link |  Bookmark | July 3, 2007 2:53:50 PM
Hi Sachin,

you can expect 40 shares in lottery. Chances are 1 out of 2.

I also have ICICI Demat A/c. And it is neither showing allotment, nor allotted 'NIL', and no refund details either. So hang on people. Raghu might be lucky, but doesn't mean allotment details are out for all.

Hi Kamal,

Allotment is 100% out. I checked myself in my demat and also I got SMS from ICICI Demat a while ago. It may be possible that you did not get allotment. Anyhow you can check either today afternoon or tomorrow for sure at
http://www.bigshareonline.com/ipostatus.php

RAGHU
