There is no separate ''Rail Budget'' after 2016. It is merged with Union Budget.

IRFC has paid a dividend of Rs. 0.36, Rs. 0.48 and Rs. 0.21 per share for the last 3 fiscals respectively and, for the first half of the current fiscal, it has paid an interim dividend of 0.53 per share.
IRFC got listed yesterday. How does an unlisted company pay dividend? and to whom?
What was the share price before listing? Before listing, all shares must be held by Promoters (Govt). So a Govt agency was paying dividend to Govt?

Before a company gets listed, some group of individuals or some body has set up the company. They are the owners of the company. In this case Govt of India on behalf of President of India has set up the company. So Govt of India is the owner of the company. Unlisted companies also pay dividends. Until any company is listed, dividends go to the owners before listing, in IRFC case it is Govt of India. Once a company gets listed in stock exchange many others including general public become owners of the company so the dividend gets divided among all the new owners. And there is share price before listing. Before listing there is only intrinsic value of the company based on its business. Once listed market decides what value to give to the company''s share.

Remember:RVNL listed in same pattern which had low subscription in IPO with at par listing and now trading at Rs 32 which was above Rs 40 few month back as well i.e double after IPO price.
Though IRFC is different peer group but one thing is common that its belongs to Indian Railway. Baki sabki apni apni shradha hai if you want to sale.

Could have compared with IRCTC..

@Sudeep Banerjee IRCTC was not compared because the subscription level was different.

@bpatel RVNL did not go above 40. RVNL''s 52 week high was 35.xx. Please correct me If I am wrong

No allotment in ipo and proved lucky. Happy to buy 2 lots below the ipo price. This is long term bet with good dividend pay. Also holding irctc and rvnl which has rewarded me with good profits. Please take your own decision.

Planning to add two more lots in further fall.

Well so many people are down here seeing the listing. I just want to say never ever regret the decision one has taken. It is a learning experience . This stock is not even 1 week into market . Wait till budget week if still the stock doesn''t perform well leave it then .

I bought 600 shares since i didn''t get allotment. Lucky to get 25 shares more in same price. In sometime it will give more than 10% gain.

I am applying in selective IPOs from last 3 years & applied 2/2 lots in both Indigo & IRFC.

IRFC is my 1st alloted IPO directly from exchange every (after 20+ IPOs schemes) & surprisingly after so much patience, registered loss on my 1st jackpot lolxx.

All the folks who are struggling with discounted stock are now suggesting to buy it for long term gains, this stock was always bad and was not worth applying to.

Give reason for stating stock as bad

Those who were saying IRFC is good for long term buy, can purchase now at cheaper price.
