waited for 1-2 second and sold at market price....

The pre-opening demand at 2607.5 was more than 13 lacs and supply was only 11.2 lacs. So definitely it had to go high on opening itself.

I put my sale order at 10:00:02 at market price. I pressed sale as soon as market opened and order executed at 2723.08

One more thing: Can one have shorted with this strategy that is try to sell at maximum rate possible and once it start going down then buy it? (Note: The assumption is that it indigo paints price is likley to go down as the price of indigo (2723) is on the higher side.)

Yes one can if script is Available for shorts but one have to be very fast or if possible to use Python for order execution. Some of the brokers provide api one can buy it and automate it with python by setting instructions as per your logic of trade
