Which stocks are eligible for margin trading?
Approved by Exchanges:
Only stocks from NSE’s and BSE’s approved list can be traded under MTF.
These stocks are usually from NSE’s F&O segment or part of NIFTY 500 or S&P BSE 500 indices.
Liquidity & Volatility:
Highly liquid stocks with lower volatility are preferred.
Stocks with low trading volumes or high volatility are excluded.
Haircut & LTV Ratio:
Each eligible stock has a predefined haircut (typically 20%-50%), reducing the available effective margin.
Brokers provide margin based on each stock's Loan-to-Value(LTV) ratio.
Restrictions on Penny Stocks & ASM/GSM Stocks:
Stocks under ASM (Additional Surveillance Measures) and GSM (Graded Surveillance Measure) are not eligible.
Penny stocks and highly speculative stocks are excluded.
Broker-Specific List:
Different brokers have approved stock lists, which may change periodically based on risk assessment and market conditions.
