What is the role of registrar in IPO?

Following are the responsibilities of Registrar in an IPO:

  1. Pre-IPO Stage (Before the IPO opens)

       2. During the IPO (Subscription period)

  • Collects application data from Banks, Brokers, Online platforms
  • Receive the final bid file from the exchanges.
  • Checks for Duplicate PANs, Invalid demat details, Incorrect bids
  • Coordinate with bankers to ensure that final collection certificates are received.
  • Reconcile the banked bids with the Final Bid file.
  • Compiles category-wise subscription data (Retail, QIB, NII)
  • Prepare the basis of allotment with lead managers.
  • Submit the basis for approval to the Stock Exchange.
  • Process the allotment of shares.
  • Send funds debit and funds unblocking files to SCSBs.

  • Initiates refunds / fund unblocking
  • Credits shares to demat accounts
  • Publishes Basis of allotment
  • Handles investor grievances
