What is the penalty for misuse of a PAN card?

Misuse of PAN may attract penalties under the Income Tax Act.

Possible penalties:

• Fine of up to Rs 10,000
• Imprisonment in fraud-related cases
• Legal action for using fake or duplicate PANs

Using multiple PAN cards is also prohibited.
