Can I trade in US options from India?

Yes, you can trade options in US or any other foreign country (legally permitted) from India. However, you would need an account with a foreign broker, registered in the US, to trade derivatives. There are many brokers in India like ICICIDirect, Kotak etc., who offer an Overseas Trading account that allows Resident Indians to trade in US stock exchanges.

LRS do not permit money to be sent to out of India to be used as margin. Non of Broker like HDFC sec, ICICI , or Axis Bank allow foreign option. I don't think we can trade in foreign option. How ever I think NRI's who already have bank account out of India can trade in Foreign option. Please correct me if I am wrong.

The below transactions are not permitted per the RBI’s FEMA guidelines:

Margin trading or margin calls to overseas exchanges/counterparty
Remittance for trading in FX in foreign exchanges
Investing in speculative instruments such as futures, options or derivatives

You are absolutely right brother. I talked to overseas support line of Interactive Brokers recently, they told me the same RBI restrictions. In my opinion, the only way is to get a citizenship in some other country offering more liberalisation.
