Admission is confined to boys in Sixth and Ninth Standard. Boys are admitted on the basis of the merit prepared as per written examination, interview and medical examination. All India Entrance Examination, normally conducted on the First Sunday of January every year at various centres in Rajasthan State.
Admission is done in the 18 Sainik Schools located at Kanjpura (Haryana), Kapurthala (Punjab), Chittorgarh (Rajasthan), Satara (Maharashtra), Balachadi (Gujarat), Korukonda (Andhra Pradesh), Bhubaneshwar (Orissa), Purulia (West Bengal), Kazhakootam (Kerala), Amravatinagar (Tamil Nadu), Rewa (Madhya Pradesh), Bijapur (Karnataka), Tilaiya (Bihar), Gopalpara (Assam), Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh), Nagrota-on Tawi (Jammu and Kashmir), Imphal (Manipur) and Sujanpur Tira (Himachal Pradesh). All Sainik Schools are affiliated to CBSE, New Delhi.

For admission in Sixth Standard boys must be between the age group of 10-11 years on the 1st July of the year in which admission is sought.
For admission in Ninth Standard boys must be between the age group of 13-14 years on the 1st July of the year in which admission is sought.
67% vacancies are reserved for boys belonging to the State in which the school is located. Out of this 15%, 7.5% and 25% seats are reserved for the candidates belonging to Schedule Caste, Schedule Tribe and Service Personnel including Ex-servicemen.
All India Entrance Examination, normally conducted on the First Sunday of January every year at various centres in Rajasthan State. The examination notification is published in all leading newspapers.
The Written Entrance Test comprises questions on Mathematical Knowledge, Language Ability and Intelligence. Those who qualify the Written Test are called for Interview and Medical Examination.
Written test will consist of the following papers:
Class VI: (Hindi or English)
Paper 1 - Maths & Language - 02 Hrs - 200 Marks
Paper 2 - Intelligence - 50 Min - 100 Marks
Class IX: (English)
Paper 1 - Maths & Science - 02:30 Hrs - 275 Marks
Paper 2 - English & Social Studies - 02:00 Hrs - 175 Marks
Minimum Qualification Marks
The minimum qualifying marksfor General category candidates as well as children of Defence Services Personnel and Ex-servicemen will be 25% in each subject with 40% in aggregate. It is pertinent to mention that scoring minimum qualifying marks in entrance examination does not guarantee a candidate a call for interview. The candidate will be called for interview based on their standing in the merit list as per the availability of vacancies in various categories.
The following scholarships are available to boys:
1. Governor of Rajasthan Scholarships: Only for boys of this State.
2. Ministry of Defense Scholarships: Only for children of Armed Forces personnel & ex-servicemen.
3. Government of India Merit Scholarships: For studies in residential public schools including Sainik Schools.
4. Ministry of Education and Culture, Government of India, (Only for boys of Union Territories)
