This is a great article and I had been waiting for this advice for long time, so first of all, thank you for posting!

When i performed my research last year on this topic, all banks refused to open this service for NRIs based in USA and Canada. So, is your article applicable to all NRIs except those residing in USA and Canada? Please confirm.

Banks doesn't allow you to open trading account from foreign land but you could open the account in your next visit to India.

Else, you would open account with other brokers like Sharekhan, Zerodha, Tradeplus or ProStocks. They are equally good and extreamly good in terms of brokerage cost.
