MobME Wireless, Kerala’s home-grown mobile Internet company, has strongly positioned itself on India’s information technology map by being the first IT company in the State to announce its Initial Public Offer (IPO).

In a fitting tribute to 12-12-12 that happens only once in century, MobME today scripted its campus-to-IPO success story in the country, thus crowning Kerala’s 22-year-long IT ambition that took roots after the IT revolution sometime in 1990.

A bunch of youngsters, who six years back bunked classes, raised capital by selling mobile SIM cards and reCET) – to make this historic announcement.

Mr. Sanjay Vijayakumar MobME co-founder and CEO said, “This moment screams out loud as a new breed of entrepreneurs is setting sail from the shores of Kerala. Mr. Vijayakumar said that the idea to float a company took birth in the campus of CET “when a group of friends out to do something that was unheard in Kerala - start a technology company while still in college. While others called it madness, we called it MobME Wireless.”

“The availability of Internet opened up a new window of knowledge and an information super highway and so we started an eventful journey in a road less travelled,” he added.

Mr Sony Joy, co-founder and co-CEO said, “In 2006, when Indians started using mobiles in a much bigger way and students just beginning to get their hands on one, we knew that telecom industry would become huge in India. And becahalf the country was our age, we felt we were well positioned to tap into the opportunities this industry would offer in years to come.”

The company has appointed IDBI Capital Market Services Limited as the Merchant Banker for the planned IPO on an SME Exchange and has appointed Desai & Diwanji as our lawyers for the issue and Artis Management Consulting is the Company Secretary. Gyan Magnus Associates are the advisors of the IPO.

Videocon D2H plans $150-200 mln IPO:

The satellite TV broadcast services arm of Videocon Group plans to raise between $150 million and $200 million through an initial public offering of shares, four sources with direct knowledge of the matter said.

The unit, Videocon D2H, has picked Swiss bank UBS (UBSN.VX) and Indian investment banks Enam Securities and ICICI Securities as advisors for the share sale, the sources said, declining to be named as they were not authorised to speak to the media.

The company plans to file the draft prospectus for the share offering by the end of next month and launch it in the first half of next year depending on market conditions, two of the sources told Reuters.

Billionaire Venugopal Dhoot, who controls Videocon Group declined to comment. Videocon Group has interests in consumer electronics, telecoms and power.

Videocon D2H, which launched its operations in 2009, plans to the share sale proceeds to expand within the country, the sources said.

Its rivals include Tata-Sky, a venture between the Tata Group and British Sky BroadRLCM.NS).

Bharat Business Channel, satellite TV arm of Videcon Group, has filed its papers with market regulator Sebi to raise Rs 700 crore through an initial public offer (IPO). The company is also considering to raise Rs 50 crore through a Pre-IPO placement of its shares to institutional investors, it said in its draft prospectus made public by Sebi today.

The issue would comprise atleast 25 percent of equity capital giving a valuation of Rs 2,800 crore to Bharat Business Channel, which provides direct-to-home TV services under Videcon D2H brand.

Other players in the business include Tata Sky, Dish TV, Sun Direct and Airtel Digital TV. While the company has not disclosed the total number of shares to be sold in IPO, the Pre-IPO placement could be of one crore shares.

"Our Company is considering a Pre-IPO placement of up to one crore equity shares aggregating up to Rs 500 million with certain investors. If the Pre-IPO placement is completed, the Issue size will be reduced to the extent of such Pre-IPO placement, subject to the issue size constituting at least 25 percent of the post-issue paid-up equity share capital of our company," the filing showed.

The company is planning to the funds for "acquisition of set-top boxes, outdoor units and accessories thereof, repayment/prepayment of certain indebtedness and general corporate purposes."

IDBI Capital Market Services Ltd, SBI Capital Markets Ltd, Yes Bank , Enam Securities and UBS Securities India would act as a book running lead managers to the issue. The shares are proposed to be listed on the BSE.

Amazing allotment system,
1 application out of 2 applications has been allotted 20 shares. What ever the amount you have subscribed for.

ie. 2 lac application also got 20 shares with the same ratio 1 out of 2.

I applied 2 application of 2 lac and only one is allotted with 20 shares. At the same time 2 applications of Rs. 15,000 and one is allotted with 20 shares.

It shows the number of applicants will be increased in Futuer IPOs but Retail portion will be subscribed very less may be 3 to 4 times if it is a good IPO. No one will go for bigger amount in IPO application.

Very strange decision.
