IPO Grey Market Premium (December, 2011 Messages)

IPO Grey Market is the over-the-counter market where deals are done in-person only among the trusted group of investors. The deals are usually facilitated by the broker in neighborhood. In this market, an investor could sell IPO share or IPO application before the company gets listed on the stock exchange.

IPO Grey Market Premium (IPO GMP) is the premium at which the IPO shares are traded in the grey market. Kostak Rate is the rate at which you can sell the IPO application for a fixed price irrespective to you get IPO allotment or not.

EC is the Encumbrance Certificate which you need to apply and get every year for your property.

Applying IPOs thru OD against property is possible but not advisable since the interest rates you may have to pay is in the order of 14-15% and considering the annual charges etc, etc, it may not be worth it.

Comparing this with OD against FD, where the interest rates are just FD Interest + 1 % and no other charges make it a better option. This may also be worth only when good IPOs/FPOs come in the market.

Thanks vas nat for your reply.
It seems from your reply that its possible to use the OD against property for applying in IPOs.
Are you using it? Also what is the EC charges

You can apply IPOs with OD facility. Try to take this facility against FD rather than against property where who have to pay annual charges, charges for obtaining EC etc.

You may get this facility when the IPO market improves and it appears that it will take quite a considerable time for that.

Hi All,
Is it possible to apply to the IPOs using the overdraft facility obtained against property? And if yes please explain the charges.
