IPO Grey Market Premium (January, 2009 Messages)

IPO Grey Market is the over-the-counter market where deals are done in-person only among the trusted group of investors. The deals are usually facilitated by the broker in neighborhood. In this market, an investor could sell IPO share or IPO application before the company gets listed on the stock exchange.

IPO Grey Market Premium (IPO GMP) is the premium at which the IPO shares are traded in the grey market. Kostak Rate is the rate at which you can sell the IPO application for a fixed price irrespective to you get IPO allotment or not.

So SATYAM has spoiled a short term rally, whether this rally continues is anybody guess. One thing is for sure that more management’s with questionable practices will be under pressure for more disclosures.

Given the fact that credit markets have virtually frozen globally we will hear such type of cases in days to come. Every effort will be made by the power brokers (Politicians, Industrialists, Bureaucrats…) to hide facts, but unfortunately these are very challenging times globally, especially when a stimulus packages don’t work and interest rates cuts trigger a fall in markets. Further falling real estate & stock markets will make it difficult to siphon money. All in all wait for more bankruptcies in coming days.
