I''m a newbie to the bull market and can someone help me understand the factors that will guarantee the application in an IPO?

My first ever IPO application was HUDCO. I applied for about 2600 shares and was allotted only 200.
Second one was Salasar to which I applied on 14th July(2nd day) for about 1000 shares and I did not get allotted with anything.
Do I have to factor in the cut-off shares in BSE Bid details?

Are there any tips or tricks to increase my percentage for getting allotted or is it just luck? I want to learn more about this, please guide me.

Dear loneranger how many application we can apply from 1 demat ac. (HDFC). If one so we need so many demat ac. It is impossible for us to get so many demat ac. Please reply
