@113. selva raj
it is possible for PGEL to keep hitting lower circuit every day for the next few days. this has happened with many stocks in the past. so be careful.

@113. selva raj
some stocks have a certain percentage limit of movement (+ or -) allowed per day. PGEL hit -20% limit today. later days this limit may be reduced to even 5%. check before trading. On listing day there are no limits.

GAME OVER BY OPERATOR. LOCKED IN LOWER CIRCUIT.

Nowadays IPO has become pure plays by few operators, Good IPO's 4 or 5 star IPOs are languishing below issue prices, while junk IPO's like these can fetch you 150-200% return in two days. I don't know whether SEBI is watching this but this is really very disturbing trend which is happening actively from last 2-3 years. That's why genuine buyers for good IPO's is decreasing day by day. I believe most of the boarders shall agree with me. Your comments are solicited.

Hi Golmaal@101.

The share trading in this scrip may mostly attract SEBI attention, but that is of little interest to the small trader.
Everyone thought this is junk issue and must fall drastically and most people started shorting.At every rise they still felt the fall is round the corner and may have sold some more, thus increasing the position and the overall risk.The big operator whoever it is knew this pattern and took the scrip to an intermediate high of about Rs 320 and then started falling.By the time it started reaching 320 to 350, our small traders who had 'sold' position had to cover and would have done it at huge loss.
Then the operator changed direction and made the scrip to fall from 320 to 220 in no time.This again kindled hope in the minds of people that this is the beginning of the huge expected fall and shorted again.
The operators then came back again with a vengence and kicked up the price from 220 to 400 and more.Poor small traders were again caught on the wrong foot and finally ended the day cursing with a huge loss.

There can be no denying the fact that all this is a clear case of rigging and SEBI may find out after an year that there were circular or whatever trading but people would have burnt their arm in the bargain and that is real money lost forever.

The theorists will again come back saying that all the losses were due to 2 factors:- Greed and fear which clearly worked in this case.

It is also true that when we see profits we will encash it quickly but do not "stop loss" as quickly because we are emotional and attached to the belief that the price must move in the way we expected it to.It is difficult to accept that we have made a mistake and always hope that the tide is due to turn any minute till it has become too late and fear takes over.A sure recipe to disaster.

Are any lessons learnt in this mad roller coaster ride??

Many might shun from the IPO trading for a few more months but it is becoming increasingly risky to take positions on the listing day with such huge fluctuations and without any limits on the opening day.

I am not a technical analyst but I doubt very much if any one could have discovered any pattern within such a short time as to which way the scrip would move next.It is also true that within a short time this scrip will find its 'true' level but it might again be academic for people who shorted today and were caught on the wrong foot.

Long live the operator!!

PLEASE give your thoughts on why PGEL behaved the way it did?
PGEL
1-fell at open by 12%.
2-languished in a 180-210 band until 11:30am (2 hr 30 min).
3-did not go anywhere from 11:30am to 12:30pm (1 hr).
4-rose to rs 320 (1 hr 15 min) minutes).
5-fell rs 100 from 320 to 220 (20 minutes).
6-rose from 220 to 360 to 410 to 460 in essentially one straight move up (1hr 20 min).

I am just trying to figure out who (operator, qib, hni, retail) did what, when and why. Hopefully I can learn a few things.

96@prakash kundur

I agree with u, we either sell too early or late, thus loosing profit or end up on the loosing side. We cannot digest at the end of the day that we loose around 5k-8k on some junk IPO. so the minute we see some profit on the table, even if it is as less as 1k. We book profit and exit.....Also it depends on your risk taking capabilities.

PGEL rose by 118% and I made 15% . It may not look like much but today was my first day of trading after a looong gap (of fear of pulling the trigger). So happy to have started on a positive note.

Wow! It made sure that people were caught both the sides - long as well as short - initially and then lived up to the expectations of our friend Sreedhar. Anybody who was gutsy enough would have reaped rich harvest!!
