The Palace on Wheels is one of the world's most exciting rail journeys, as much for the train and the facilities provided on board, as for the royal destinations it proceeds to every single day. The journey though starts and ends at the capital city of Delhi moves through the Royal Rajasthan and the unique Uttar Pradesh. During week long fairy tale trip each halt will open up a treasure chest and enwrap you in its magic. The mystical charm of the magnificent cities en-route will not fail to capture you. The palaces, forts, havelis, sand dunes, the camel will pass by you. Each one of the magnificent and opulent evidence of the heritage of the past is brimming with legends of romance and chivalry. The tale of the glorious past will be silently conveyed to you. The forts, palaces, the adjoining gardens, the scale at which the festivities were held are all revealed to you without a word. The scenic beauty of the Taj Mahal, the epitome of love, (one of the seven wonders of the world) will be the final stop of the Palace-on-Wheels before it returns to the starting point of the capital city Delhi. The Palace on Wheels have 39 deluxe cabins and 2 super deluxe cabins with the total capacity of 82 passengers. There are two resto-bar lounges on the train, aryuvedic spa facility, with complimentary Wi-fi services are also provided through sharing dongles.
The Coaches :-
The 14 coaches are named after former Rajput states matching the aesthetics and interiors of the royal past. Each saloon has a mini pantry and a lounge to ensure availability of hot and cold beverage, and refreshments and a place to relax and get together.
14 fully air-conditioned deluxe saloons, each a combination of 4 twin bedded chambers with channel music, intercom, attached toilets, running hot and cold water, shower, wall to wall carpeting and other amenities. The furniture with its inlaid motifs has been specially created for the Palace on Wheels.
The train has two lavish restaurants "The Maharaja" and "The Maharani" with a Rajasthani ambience serving palate tickling Rajasthani cuisines and other popular world cuisines. Dishes of Rajasthani and Marwari cuisine are the highlights. The expert chef and his team take important care of hygiene and cleanliness. The guests can enjoy the highest level of hospitality services.
The train also boasts of a well stocked bar offering the choicest of sprits of Indian and international brands and enjoy chit-chatting over a glass of wine with your fellow passengers. Each coach also offers a good collection of books to choose from.
The Palace on Wheels is regularly refurbished to a great extent. The decor in the saloons, bar lounge has been changed, keeping in mind the traditionally aesthetic yet modern, Palace on Wheels. Toilets have been redone and are maintained sparkling clean. Each saloon lounge has been equipped with color television and a CD player. A satellite phone is on the way to make you communicate anywhere in the world from the train
