Annapurna Temple at Chittorgarh Fort

Though now an idol of mahalaksmi maa has been consecrated in the annapurna temple,this temple was originally built by maharana hamir in 1300s for maa barvadi ji{ annapurna]- a "chaaran" devi maa[ considerd to be avtaar of maa shakti durga].after loosing chittorgarh in a battle,maharana hamir went to gujrat.here he met maa barvadi ji , who blessed him and advised him to fight again. she sent her son- baaru ji [saudaa] for maharana's help n also gave 500 horses. with the blessings of maa, maharana was able to win back chittorgarh. he then built the temple and gave baru ji the "padavee" of "barhat" , along with various villages.
