  • NCD's / Corporate Bonds / Fixed Deposits Message Board (India)

Bonds (Corporate Bonds) are issued by private or public sector companies to raise money from the market. Bonds are for long term investment with minimum investment period of a year. Bonds are generally listed in NSE and BSE.

Government or public sector bonds are considered as low risk investment option when compared to bonds issued by private sector companies in India. That’s the reason many a times bond issued by private sector companies receives higher yield.

This Bond and Fixed Deposit Message Board provides latest updates to investors and let them share their views to the forum boarders.

In my opinion Sriramcity union NCD INE 722A07216 having inttrest rate of 12.10% & maturing in August 2016 ( about 4 years from now ) is safer bet with resonable interest.

How to sell secondary marked purchase?

I applied for 200 HUDCO Tax Free bonds in the initial offer (interest rate 8.35% pa) which were credited to my demat account.

Later, I also purchased 40 additional bonds from the secondary market. I believe that these 40 bonds will fetch a lower rate of interest as they will not be eligible to the incentive which was offered to the retail investors. Is this understanding correct?

Also, if I want to sell off these 40 bonds, which were purchased from the secondary marked, how can I do that? My broker is telling me that if I will sell any bonds from my Demat Account the bonds which were purchased earlier will be sold off as it follows the FIFO (First In First Out) logic and the bond code is same for all bonds wether purchased from primary or secondary market.

So, how can I sell off bonds purchased from secondary market without selling initial offer purchase bonds?

    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Vivek

Check for ISN number of securities.

If ISN of allotted security differs from the ISN of the purchased security it solves your problem. If both the ISNs are same, your apprehension of FIFO method would be correct.

@528VivekG Please note there is no way you can retain retain your security purchased earlier and sell one you bought later what your broker advise is correct, besause .FIFO is in built in software .
